Terms of Service

Key Summary: TurnHero is an automated Slack usergroup rotation service offered at a flat $19/month per workspace (or $180/year) with a 14-day free trial. We never read or store your channel conversation content. All tokens are encrypted using AES-256-GCM.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (either an individual or the legal entity on whose behalf you are acting, "Customer", "you", or "your") and TurnHero ("TurnHero", "we", "us", or "our"), governing your access to and use of the TurnHero Slack application, website (turnhero.app), APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By authorizing TurnHero on your Slack workspace, accessing our website, or using any part of the Service, you represent that you have the legal authority to bind your organization to these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not have such authority, or if you do not agree to these Terms, you must not install or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

TurnHero provides automated Slack usergroup management and on-call triage duty roster synchronization. The Service features:

  • Automated synchronization of Slack usergroups (@usergroup) on scheduled cadences (daily, weekly, custom).
  • Out-of-Office (OOO) and holiday auto-skipping based on Slack user status and emoji detection.
  • In-Slack interactive shift swapping via slash commands (/turn swap) with peer approval workflows.
  • Shift handover announcements in designated Slack channels and direct messages to on-duty heroes.
  • A native Slack App Home tab dashboard for roster administration and schedule management.

3. Slack Workspace Authorization & Account Responsibility

To use TurnHero, an authorized administrator of your Slack workspace must install the TurnHero Slack App and grant the necessary OAuth permissions. You agree to:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of your workspace credentials and administration access.
  • Promptly notify TurnHero if you suspect any unauthorized access or security breach involving your workspace integration.
  • Ensure that your use of TurnHero complies with your organization's internal IT, security, and communications policies.

4. Free Trial, Subscription, and Billing Terms

14-Day Free Trial: Upon initial installation into a Slack workspace, TurnHero provides a fully functional, unrestricted 14-day free trial. No payment method is required to begin the trial.

Flat Pricing: TurnHero is billed on a flat-fee basis per Slack workspace:

  • Monthly Subscription: $19 per workspace per month, billed in advance.
  • Annual Subscription: $180 per workspace per year ($15/month equivalent), billed annually in advance.

Unlike competitors such as Tellspin, TurnHero does not charge per-user, per-seat, or per-rotation fees. You may add unlimited rotations and unlimited team members within an authorized workspace.

Billing & Payment Processing: Payments are securely processed through Stripe. By submitting billing information, you authorize Stripe and TurnHero to charge applicable fees to your designated payment method.

Cancellation & Refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time via the self-service Stripe Customer Portal accessible from the Slack App Home or by contacting support. Following cancellation, your subscription remains active until the end of your current paid billing period, after which automated rotations pause. Fees paid are non-refundable except where required by law.

5. Acceptable Use & Slack API Policy Compliance

TurnHero is designed to operate within the Slack ecosystem. You agree to comply with Slack's Acceptable Use Policy, Terms of Service, and Developer Policies. You shall not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, abusive, or malicious purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Service infrastructure or algorithms.
  • Abuse the Service in a manner that triggers Slack API rate limits or causes denial of service to other tenants.
  • Circumvent subscription or billing controls.

6. Data Security and Privacy

Your privacy and data security are central to our system design. We strictly adhere to our Privacy Policy:

  • Zero Message Content Storage: TurnHero does not request scopes to read, monitor, log, or store your private channel message histories (no channels:history).
  • Token Encryption: All Slack OAuth bot tokens and workspace credentials are encrypted at rest using an authenticated AES-256-GCM cipher.
  • Infrastructure: The Service is hosted on Google Cloud Platform and Firebase with enterprise-grade multi-tenant isolation.

7. Intellectual Property

TurnHero and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Service, including all intellectual property rights, trademarks, software code, and documentation. Slack is a trademark of Slack Technologies LLC / Salesforce, Inc. TurnHero is an independent third-party application.

8. Service Availability & Modifications

We strive to provide 99.9% uptime. However, the Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We may occasionally perform scheduled maintenance, update features, or modify interfaces. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to notify customers of significant maintenance windows.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TURNHERO, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR PARTNERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

TURNHERO'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO TURNHERO IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling TurnHero from your Slack workspace and canceling your subscription. TurnHero reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for any workspace that violates these Terms or engages in fraudulent activity.

11. Governing Law & Contact Information

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
